Wilma Marie Cook, age 93, of Webster City, passed away on January 4, 2006 in Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, Iowa with Pastor Robin Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 PM until the time of service at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. 

Wilma Marie Johnston, was born on August 27, 1912, in Bay View, Washington, the daughter of William and Zula (Mendenhall) Johnston.   In 1923, following the death of her parents, she went to live with relatives in Iowa and Nebraska. She graduated from Allen Consolidated High School, Allen, Nebraska in 1931.   She married Cloyd John Cook on August 1, 1936, in Hannibal, Missouri. Cloyd and Wilma resided in Toledo, Iowa for many years. Following Cloyd’s death in 1967, Wilma moved to an apartment in Tama. She was employed by Dick’s Restaurant and the Tama-Toledo Country Club. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, an excellent seamstress and enjoyed the hours she spent on the golf course and her many friends in the Tama-Toledo area. In 1993, due to failing vision, Wilma relocated to Webster City and resided at Crestview Apartments. She entered Southfield Wellness Community on October 1, 2004.  Wilma was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Tama-Toledo Country Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Mother’s Club.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd; two brothers, Roy Johnston and Herald Cox; and three sisters, Ruth Roberts, Sylvia Bailey and Zula Hall.


She is survived by her son, Donald  (Wanda) Cook of Webster City; two grandchildren, Steven (Jill) Cook of Perry and Lynn (Daniel) Darnold of Waverly; five great-grandchildren, April and Elizabeth Cook; Lauren, Nathan and Christian Darnold; one brother, Gerald Cox of Turlock, California; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial fund has been established.
