Lillian Mary Collinson

TAMA-Lillian Mary Collinson, 96, of Tama, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 13th at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Lillian was born on October 18, 1915, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Amil and Emma (Hrtska) Chalupsky. She graduated from Tama High School in 1931 and attended Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. On December 30, 1944, she was united in marriage to John Harland Collinson in Tama. Lillian taught school in Mt. Auburn, Vining, Clutier, and Atlantic. She retired from teaching in 1970 and they moved to Webster City where they resided until John’s death on June 7, 1985. In 1993, Lillian returned to reside in Tama where she eventually became a resident at Sunny Hill Care Center. Lillian enjoyed children, especially her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John; and a sister in infancy. Survivors include her children, John (Lynn) Collinson Jr. of Tama, Joan Campbell of Toledo, Jane (Matthew) McNeely of Boston, MA, Jean (Larry) Jesse of Ames, James (Sheryl) Collinson of Toledo, Janet (Richard Carroll) Collinson of Muscatine, and Joel (Patsy) Collinson of Dallas Center; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established.
