TAMA-Theresa Rae Keahna, 67, of Tama, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Monday evening, January 27, at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.
Theresa was born on November 14, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Gaston and Edna (Youngbear) Keahna. She graduated from Tama High School. Theresa retired after twenty five years from U.S. West. She enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia and going to the Casino. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Terri Hernandez, Karena Johnson and Shannon Little; six granddaughters, Antonia, Jessica and Britni Hernandez, Shamari, Tiaunna and Zaria Little; four grandsons, Mykel Hosek, Terrin Hernandez, Miles Lasley and Ivan Davila; six great-grandchildren, Eeva, Daelia, Dominick, Damien, Ella and Kingston; three brothers, Sidney (Aldean) Keahna, Rick Keahna Sr., Verlyn (Marsha) Keahna; three sisters, Carma (Michael) Wanatee, Rochelle Keahna, Rhonda (Bruce) Waseskuk; one aunt, Vivian Keahna; one uncle, Leonard (Chloe) Youngbear; numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristin Hernandez; grandsons, Marcos and Cesar Hernandez; parents, Gaston and Edna Keahna; brothers, Gaston Keahna Jr. and Alfred Keahna.
