Aaron Shawn Mauskemo, 60, of Tama, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at UnityPoint - Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.  A Traditional Wake will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at McIntosh Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

Aaron was born on August 2, 1964, the son of Marjorie (Kapayou) Mauskemo and Alexander Mauskemo in Marshalltown, Iowa.

He attended South Tama Schools.

Aaron worked in the Public Works Department and the Meskwaki Casino. He also was a woodworker.

He enjoyed watching football and was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. Aaron took pride in building model semis, spending time at the casino and spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his brothers, Randy Blair of Bishop, California, Kenneth Mauskemo of Tama; sisters, Adrienne and Joni Mauskemo, both of Tama; cousin, Todd Mauskemo; special friend, Theresa Dickson; several cousins, nieces, nephews and several grand nieces and grand nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Derrick Mauskemo and Alexander Kevin Mauskemo; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
