Agnes Davenport Shuckahosee, 95, of Tama, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. A Traditional Wake was held Monday evening at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement.
Agnes was born on April 25, 1927 at home on the Meskwaki Settlement, Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Poweshiek) Davenport.
She graduated from Tama High School.
On January 3, 1964, she married Isaac Shuckahosee Jr. at the Presbyterian Church in Tama, Iowa. Agnes worked and retired from the STC food service. She enjoyed sewing for her family and traveling with family to powwows throughout the U.S. Her greatest joy was being with her husband, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and adopted relatives. Agnes was known to always help and assist people when asked upon.
Survivors include her children, Mary Jane Shuckahosee of Tama, Charles (Kathy) Shuckahosee of Toledo, Hattie (Dean) Whitebreast of Montour, Raymond (Daria) Slick Jr. of Tama, Bradley (Brittany) Shuckahosee of Tama and DeLarcy (Uriah) Wanatee of Tama; grandkids, Agnes Makayla, George and Gerald Jr. Sanache, Chauncey, Chartelle, Chalen, Chasia, Sophie and Corbin Shuckahosee, Albert and Jesus Medina, Damon Whitebreast, Dawn and Ladonna Marland, Autumn Kingbird, Dewey Bass, Jessica Bear, Margaret Shuckahosee; and other great and great-great grandkids; also numerous nieces and nephews and adopted extended families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac; her parents, Charles and Mary; daughter, Marguerite Youngbear; brothers, George Soldier, Edward Davenport, Harvey Davenport Sr; sisters, Bernice Sanache, Rose Eagle, Alice Poweshiek and Mary Davenport Youngbear; nephews, Frank Jr. and Frederick Sanache; and nieces, Laura Mae Kapayou and Sherry Catron.
