TOLEDO-Alice Marie Campbell, age 71, of Toledo, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church Worship Center in Toledo with Pastor Mary Schnepf officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17 from 4 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Alice was born on February 28, 1937, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Ethel Barber.
She graduated from Toledo High School in 1957.
On June 15, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, C. Keith Campbell at Fairview Methodist Church in rural Toledo. Alice was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the UMW Ruth Circle, the Wieting Theatre Guild, and the Iowa Juvenile Home Foundation Board. She participated in many Wieting Theatre productions. She enjoyed cooking, singing, and the State Fair. Alice was affectionately known as "Big A".
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Keith in 2005; one sister, Karen Clark; and one brother, Robert Stohr.
Survivors include four sons, Sam (Barb) of Tama, Dave (Sharon) of Toledo, Dennis (Debby) of Toledo, and Bruce "Bubba" of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
