Amelia (Buffalo) Lasley, 81, of Tama, passed away, Thursday, April 1, 2026 at her home on the Meskwaki Settlement. A Traditional Wake will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Friday, April 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

Amelia was born October 13, 1944 on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama, the daughter of Mary Ann Buffalo.

On September 7, 1962, she was married to Orrie Lasley Sr. on the Meskwaki Settlement. Amelia was a certified nurse's aide, certified medication aide, Meskwaki Language and Culture Teacher, and retired as a CHR for the Meskwaki Tribe. Amelia enjoyed taking care of people, traveling, gardening, and yardwork. She also enjoyed raising chickens, ducks, pigs, puppies, and her kitty, Hitty. Her favorite past times were singing and dancing at Pow Wow time, spending time with family, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include her children, Laurie (Javier), Larry Sr. (Marcine), Leigh, Allison, Orrie Jr. (Sonja), and Joey (Nana); grandchildren, Miles, Nena, Lyrik, Kadyn, Lorenzo, Francisco, Marquez, Sterling, Larry Jr., Iyawa, Laila, Seenane, Tahchuhsee; great-grandchildren, Olythia, Wyomia, Evangeline, Maxwell, Villani, and Rainier; sister, Verna Davenport; brother, Johnathan L. Buffalo (Suzanne); many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; great-granddaughter, Oreliah; brother, Dale; grandfather, John Buffalo; grandmother, Elsie Morgan; aunts, Leila and Cornelia.
