Amy Jo Haggard, 51, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at her home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Turner Cemetery in rural Garwin. Visitation will be held on one hour prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Amy was born on December 23, 1964 in Culver City, California, the daughter of Junior and Joanne (Smith) Amick. She held a bachelor's degree in architectural design and had previously worked for Compaq Computers in Chicago. More recently she bred and raised basset hounds. Amy especially loved her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the company of her dog, Yao Jing. Amy was very talented and enjoyed making various crafts including jewelry and small wood projects. She liked to spend time outdoors in her yard and taking walks at Grimes Farm Nature Center in Marshalltown.
Survivors include friend and companion of sixteen years, Derek Moeller of Toledo; aunt, Kris Sowa of Buckeye, AZ; sister, Kari Taylor of Sycamore, IL; two brothers, Paul Musgrave of Rockford, IL and Danny Haggard of Philadelphia, PA; four nieces; one nephew; two step-daughters; two step-sons; six granddaughters; one grandson; and two cousins, Artie and Tania Montoya of CA. Amy is also survived by her fur companions, Yao Jing, Buddy, Cloudy, Panda, and Jesse.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a step-son.
