TAMA-Andy E. "Jr." Suchanek, 45, of Tama, died July 4, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Darren Mathes officiating. Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday July 7, 2011 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Andrew was born on May 19, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was the son of Paul Andy and Edna June (Hardon) Suchanek. Andy graduated from South Tama County High School in 1984. He received his Associate of Arts Degree from Marshalltown Community College in Liberal Arts in 2008, his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010 in Criminal Justice and Human Services from Buena Vista College.
On June 5, 2000, he was united in marriage to Penny Murty in Tama. He worked as an R.A. at Pheasant Ridge in rural Toledo. Andy was an avid bow hunter and was involved in the S & K Archery League in Belle Plaine. He also loved playing pool and bowling. His time spent with his nieces and nephews was a special part of his life.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Edna June Suchanek in 2005; and a nephew, Joseph Starits in 2011.
Survivors include his wife, Penny of Tama; his father, Paul Andy (Verona) Suchanek of Tama; one brother, Bill (Trudy) Suchanek of Tama; several nieces and nephews; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence (Pat) Murty of Tama and Rebecca Murty of Tama.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
