TAMA-Angela Marie Montoya (Whitebreast) "Bye ta ga", 80, passed away, Sunday, December 1, 2024 at her home in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico. A Traditional Wake will be held Thursday evening, December 5, 2024 at Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building, on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Morgan Cemetery in rural Tama with Larry Lasley Sr. as speaker.
Angela was born September 19, 1944 on the Meskwaki Settlement, the daughter of Horace and Jennie Davenport Whitebreast. She graduated from South Tama High School and the University of New Mexico. Angela served her country as a military spouse for 21 years during her husband's active-duty service in the United States Air Force. Angela enjoyed spending time with her family, arts and crafts, listening to powwow music, and cooking.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Eligio Montoya Jr., her children Allen, Timothy, and Francine, Granddaughters Lindsay Holmes and Crystal Byrd, great-grandchildren Jaiden, Jaionae, Jaiveon, and Devontae. Angela is also survived by her extended family at the Santa Ana Pueblo, NM, and Meskwaki Settlement, IA.
Preceding her in death were her parents and siblings Fern, Maria, Colleen, Melba, Delmar, Steven, Archie, Roland, and Sterling.
