April Leah Jefferson, 42, of Tama, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Wayne Pushetonequa as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Sunday evening at the Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement.

April was born on April 21, 1978, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Mike Stacey and Eloise Lasley.

She graduated from South Tama High School. April liked Charles Barkley and was a fancy dancer when she was little.

Survivors include her daughters, Danielle, and Addie; her parents, Mike Stacey and Eloise Lasley; her siblings, Jeremiah, Ashley, Aileena, Alexis, and Abigail all of Tama, Aujolie of Toledo, Joey of Montour, and Aiyana of Mitchellville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Jessup and Lelia Lasley, and Leonard and Barbara Johnson.
