TOLEDO-Barbara Jean Buresh Martin, age 60, of Des Moines and formerly of Toledo, died suddenly Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at her home in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 from 12 PM -1 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Barbara was born on February 21, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Albina (Hruby) Buresh.
She attended Tama and Chelsea schools. Barbara lived in California for over twenty years before moving back to the Tama-Toledo area.
On January 1, 1996, she was united in marriage to Albert Martin, in Tama, Iowa. They made their home in Toledo. Barbara was previously employed at the Meskwaki Casino in housekeeping for five years. At the time of her death she worked at the14th Street Tavern.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Martin in 2001; one son, Billy McKinney; one brother, Donald Buresh in 1987; and one niece, Penny Buresh in 1958.
Survivors include her children, Kimberly (Richard) Kerley of California, Elizabeth (Rusty) Greiner of California, Debbie (Rick) McKinney of Cedar Rapids, Tammy (Rod) Blocker of Toledo, and Jennifer Van Booven of California; ten grandchildren, Tara Yamamoto, Charles Titlow, Tyler Yamamoto, Alex Greiner, John Graybeal, Michael Jackson, April Jackson, Bo Blocker, Nicole Jackson, and Cody Blocker; one great-grandchild, Chanden Graybeal; two brothers, Ernest (Janice) Buresh of Tama, and Norman (Claire) Buresh of Arlee, Montana; one sister, Betty (Max) Stanford of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
