Obituary

Barbara Rae White, 89, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Birkwood Village in Toledo with her family at her side under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 13, 2026 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Haven Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held Monday, July 13, 2026 from 10:00-11:30 AM prior to the service at the church.

Barbara was born on July 23, 1936, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Marion and Alvina (Ciesinski) Ingebritson.

Barbara attended Dunbar and Ferguson schools and was an avid basketball player.

Barbara and Lyle met at Pilgrim Heights in rural Montour while skating and on April 10, 1955 they were married in Dunbar, Iowa. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in April of 2025. Barbara assisted in the farming, driving tractors for field work, along with sorting hogs for market. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and traveling. She traveled to Alaska, Europe, Norway, and Italy with relatives, and went on an African camping safari. Barbara enjoyed Blue Grass music and attended many events in her travels. She had a wonderful gift of hospitality, and loved to cook and bake several Norwegian desserts, Lefsa, and Kringla, that were very tasty. While a resident of Birkwood Village in Toledo, Barbara participated in many arts and crafts, along with Bingo. She enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Teddy, who had a bark that would pierce one’s ears.

Barbara was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, where she was active in the Women’s Circle.

Survivors include her four children, Linda Bisher-Troy (Charlie) of Dubuque, Keith (Debbie) White of Mesa, AZ, Brian (Vilay) White of Tama, and Diane (Chris) Bearden of Tama; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph Ingebritson of Kansas City, MO.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lyle on January 17, 2026; a son, Daryl Lee White; granddaughter, Sonya Jo White; brother, Jack (Gayle) Ingebritson; sister, Beverly (Alex) Verde; and sister-in-law, Sharon Ingebritson.
