TOLEDO- Bea Fowler, 98, a resident of Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare Center in Marshalltown and formerly of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the care center under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 10:30-11:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Bea was born March 6, 1914, on the home place of her parents, Robert Floyd and Cora Mae (Mason) Blake in Howard Township, Tama County. She attended Howard #10 country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Toledo High School with the Class of 1932.
On March 4, 1942, she married William E. Fowler in Kahoka, Missouri.
Bea spent forty-seven years on the family farm before moving to Toledo in 1961. She worked for twenty-five years in the former Kilcoin Clothing Store. She also worked at the Bee Hive and the Village Shop all located on the main street in Tama. Bea was involved in several church and business organizations during her lifetime.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Kenneth Blake; a nephew, Robert B. Blake; and a great nephew, Daniel R. Blake.
Survivors include four nieces, Naomi (Carl) Anthony of Brooklyn, Mary (Bernard) Dvorak of Cedar Rapids, Margaret (Vernon) Waterman of Melbourne, and Mildred (Bob) Wade of Des Moines and also, Darlene Blake of Tama; her great nieces, Katrina Blake of Conrad, and Alicia (Randy) Higginbotham of Tama; three great-great and six great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or Grandview Heights Care Center in Marshalltown.
