Bernard Dean Hala, 53, of Tama, was born on November 3, 1957 in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Steve J. and Ruth (Kacer) Hala. He passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home.
He graduated from South Tama High School. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Private interment will be held at a future date.
Bernie was previously married to Brenda McMurray Dick. He had previously worked at the Tama Paperboard since 1977, where he was a member of their local union. Bernie was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Buffalo Bills fan and he loved his pets. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Steve Hala and Ruth Titcomb; and his stepfather, Truman Titcomb; and his beloved pets, Wrinkles and Charlie.
Survivors include two daughters, Audra (Twisty) Welsh of Tama and Bobbi (Rob) Hills of Prairie City; five grandchildren, Macy, Malori, Brenden, Justin and Brittany; his siblings, Patty (Gary) Spear of LeGrand, Nancy Hala of Marshalltown, Steve (Pam) Hala of Toledo and Jim (Pam) Hala of Toledo; his stepmother, Helen Hala of Tama; his step-siblings, Julie Henle, Cindy (Mike) Anderson, Becky (Gary) Doyle, Steve (Linda) Titcomb and David Titcomb; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial fund has been established.
