TOLEDO-Beth Ann (McCollister) Thorngren, age 59, of Geneva, Illinois, formerly of Toledo, died Monday, December 10, 2007 at her home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service Saturday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Beth was born on March 15, 1948 in Toledo, the daughter of LaVerne F. and Twila (Palmer) McCollister. She graduated from South Tama County High School in 1966, and then attended Marshalltown Community College and Grand View College in Des Moines. Beth married Rodney Cowell in 1967 and they later divorced. She later married Mark Thorngren. Beth had previously been employed in retail sales and also sold real estate. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include two sons, Bradley (Kelly) Cowell of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and Sean (Dana Coombs) Cowell of Elgin, Illinois; one daughter, Trista (Tom) Haugk of Geneva, Illinois; three grandchildren, Peri Haugk, Cameran Cowell, and Wesley Cowell; two sisters, Terri (Jerry) Vaske of Tama and Ruth (Keith) Coady of Norwalk; one brother, Marc McCollister of Toledo; two aunts; one uncle; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
