TAMA-Betty J. Catherman, 96, of Tama, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Haven Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held on Friday April 27 from 10:00 AM until service time at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Betty was born on October 20, 1915, in Bon Aqua, TN, the daughter of Sam and Bertie (Myatt) Rodgers.
On March 5, 1936, she was united in marriage to Arthur A. Catherman in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Betty loved gardening, history and was an avid reader.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arthur; one daughter, Darlene Dufek; her siblings, Doug Rodgers, Lucille Fiser, and James "Mack" Rodgers.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Janel Wells of Des Moines, Andrea Green of Des Moines, and Lisa Becker of Rolla, MO; her great-grandchildren, Nicolas Barnhart, Brittany Barnhart, Zoie Green, and Riley Wells; son-in-law, Raymond Dufek of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Sam Rodgers of Ottumwa and Dean Rodgers of Marengo; four sisters, Lorene Meek of Tama, Florence Ruff of Marshalltown, Louise Danner of Marshalltown, and Arlene Strennan of West Des Moines.
A memorial fund has been established.
