(Hanus) Anderson
July 6, 1933 – October 29, 2021
Betty Marie (Hanus) Anderson, 88 years, of Toledo and formerly of Brooklyn, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center under the care of St. Croix Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.
Betty was born on July 6, 1933 in Tama Iowa, the daughter of Vince and Nada (Hardon) Hanus.
Betty attended country school and graduated from Tama High School 1952.
On May 29, 1954 she was united in marriage to Wilbur Ray Anderson. They made their home in Brooklyn, Iowa. They later divorced.
Betty worked at the Brooklyn Creamery doing a truck route picking up milk from local dairy farms. She worked at Amana refrigeration Raytheon corporation for over 30 years.
Betty enjoyed working with her horses, flower gardens, crocheting, reading, and bird watching. She loved sharing her knowledge with her family. Betty never met a kid or critter she did not enjoy spending time with. Her family will miss her quick wit and sense of humor.
Betty is survived by her 3 children, Andy (Pam) Anderson of Watauga, Texas, LouAnna (LeRoy) Olson of Toledo, Iowa, and Chris (Karen) Anderson of Dallas, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Joyce Anderson of Brooklyn, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Heather Anderson Kohnen (Terry), Jessica (Ivan) Harken, Kaleb (Melissa) Anderson, Sarah (Nathan) Shepard, Whitney (Ryan) Paul, Garrett (Amanda) Olson, Sadie (Rodney) Kennedy, Wyatt (Brittany) Anderson, Delanie (Sean) Scott, Autumn Anderson, Haley Anderson; 14 Great grandchildren; two Sisters, Katherine "Tig" (Mark) Croskrey of Tama, and Nada "Pink" (Clarence) Ruhl of Tama; one brother Tom (Jo Ann) Hanus of Tama; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Elmer Anderson; two brothers, Ervin Hanus and Henry as an infant; one sister, Hazel White; and special friend, Leonard Higginbotham.
Memorials may be directed to Tama County Humane Society.
