TAMA- Blanche H. Atchison , age 90, of Tama, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama due to a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Ron Arends officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, November 21 at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Blanche was born on October 27, 1916 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Grant N. and Anna M. (Hansen) Olsen. She married Arnold Atchison in 1938 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. Blanche was a homemaker, caring for her home and family. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Ladies' Aid group at the church as well. She liked playing bridge, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and baking. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold in 1979, a grandson Randy McCoy, three brothers, Harry, Vernon, and Leslie Olsen, and a sister Lillian Thiessen.
Survivors include two daughters Barbara (Joseph) Child of Laurel and Martha (Donald) McCoy of Toledo; one son Allan (Sandra) Atchison of Toledo; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, one sister Harriette (Robert) Rayman of Elberon; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
