Obituary

TOLEDO-Blanche Marie Rebik, 99, a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
Blanche was born on March 31, 1911, in Carroll Township, Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Mary (Podhajsky) Sevcik.
On September 15, 1931, she was united in marriage to Albert Milo Rebik in Clutier, Iowa. Following Albert's death in 1946, she lived in Toledo until 1959. Blanche then moved to Perry, Iowa and was a caregiver. In the 1980's, she moved to Traer. Blanche was loving, giving and caring to everyone she knew. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. She volunteered for many years at Sunrise Hill Care Center. Blanche was known for her delicious kolaches. Her greatest enjoyment was all of her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in 1946; and one grandson, Gary Schmidt.
Survivors include her children, Patricia (Virgil) Schmidt of Traer, Loren (Barbara) Rebik of Radcliffe and Carolyn (Ron) Meisler of Longmont, CO; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Esch of Madison, WI; one brother, Lester Sevcik of Traer; and many nieces and nephews.
