Obituary

Bruce Allen Waseskuk, 71, of Tama, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery in rural Tama with Homer Bear Jr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Monday evening at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.





Bruce was born on November 25, 1946 on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama, the son of Billy and Genevieve (Hill) Waseskuk. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was married to Rhonda Keahna in 2012 at the Pow-Wow grounds in rural Tama. Bruce was retired from M&E Trucking in Atmore, Alabama. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his wife Rhonda of Tama; son Alan Waseskuk of Tama; two daughters, Anissa Waseskuk of Toledo and Anna Waseskuk of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren, Franchesca, Jonathan, Mary, Kaitlynn, Laezlow, Aiden, Aubrey, and Dominic Waseskuk; his mother Genevieve "Gene" Waseskuk of Tama; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-children, Lauterio Corral, Ren Corral, and Elora Conlreras all of Tama.



Preceding him in death was his father and twin granddaughters.
