Obituary

Buddy Davenport, 91, of Tama, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at his home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM at McIntosh Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Wake will be held Monday evening at Buddy's home, 277 W. Quail Rd., Tama, Iowa.

Buddy was born on November 20, 1924, on the Meskwaki Settlement, the son of Howard C. and Violet (Wanatee) Davenport.
He graduated from Flandreau Indian School and also attended a flight school.
Buddy served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a Radioman aboard ship.
On April 3, 1950, he married Lois Waseskuk at the Meskwaki Presbyterian Church. Buddy was an Iron worker and a Charter Pilot. He enjoyed Pow Wows, Gourd dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. Buddy liked traveling in his RV and wintering in Arizona and California.
Survivors include his wife of sixty five years, Lois W. Davenport of Tama; his children, Tony (Kay) Waseskuk of Tama, Kathleen (Joseph) Wheeler of Johnston, Babette Pritchett (Dale Tanner) of Waterloo, Keith Davenport of Tama, Kay (Les) Deane of Toledo, Kurt Davenport of Tama, Denise Davenport (Burtis Bible) of Tulsa, OK, Dana Davenport and Allison Stewart both of Tama; one sister, Myrtle Keahna of Tama; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three grandsons, Joseph Wheeler Jr, Anthony Waseskuk Jr. and William Defoe.
