Carl Dwayne Bearden, 81, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Carl was born on October 28, 1933, at home in Tama, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Fern (See) Bearden.
He graduated from Tama High School.
Carl served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Carl retired from the Tama Paperboard as a maintenance supervisor. After his retirement, he was the grounds keeper at Pioneer Hi-Bred in Toledo. For many years, Carl volunteered as an EMTD for the City of Tama. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. He restored a 1957 Chevy and a 1965 Corvette and enjoyed taking his cars to shows all over the country. Carl enjoyed spending time on the farm but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Rebecca (Dan) Gross of Mims, FL, Chris (Diane) Bearden of Tama, Amy (Lyle) Henle of Toledo and Cindy (B.J.) Epperly of Tama; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six brothers, Cecil (Elva) Bearden of Tama, Charles (Mary Lynne) Bearden of Gladbrook, Chester (Elizabeth) Bearden on Toledo, Clifford (Joyce) Bearden of Chattanooga, TN, Fritz (Mila) Bearden of Toledo and Clyde (Merna) Bearden of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two grandsons, Brandon Plowman and Konnor Starits; and a sister-in-law, Bettie Bearden.
A memorial fund has been established.
