TOLEDO-Carl Frank Uchytil, age 92, of Toledo passed away Friday, September 4th, 2009 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. The Celebration of Life Mass will be Saturday, September 12th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Church in rural Clutier. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. A visitation and gathering of friends and family will take place on Friday, September 11th from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Church in rural Clutier. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is handling the arrangements.
Carl was born on September 26, 1916 to Clara (Cizek) and Charles Uchytil in Carroll Township, Tama County, Iowa. On April 5, 1951 Carl was married to Georgia Ann Kubik. They moved to Toledo, Iowa where Carl has lived for the past 48 years.Carl spent many years as a mechanic working on cars, trucks and farm equipment. Prior to that he farmed with his brother Fred on the family farm. He loved to travel with his wife Georgie and visit their children. After her death, he looked forward to his "mini" vacations to Minnesota for all of the holidays and especially Christmas when all of his family would gather together. He was very proud to watch or hear about his children's and grandchildren's events and accomplishments, attending as many as he could. He enjoyed gardening, dancing (polka's were his favorite), reading, eating Georgie's great food, his dog Barney, watching sporting events and rooting for his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Carl is survived by four daughters: Jean (Tom) Eaton, Albert Lea, Minnesota, Nancy (Steve) Creedy, Sydney, Australia, Carol (Mark) Henderson, Plantation, Florida, Rosemary (Dean) Hoover, Baltimore,
Maryland and one son: Captain Carl J. (Maria) Uchytil, Juneau, Alaska.
Grandchildren: Andrew (Dr. Stephanie Truhlar) Eaton, San Diego, California, Dr. Jeffrey (Julie) Eaton, Faribault, Minnesota, Anna and Austin Hoover, Baltimore, Maryland, Gavin and Lauren Henderson,
Plantation, Florida, Second Class Cadet Nicholas Herndon, New London, Connecticut, Dana Herndon, Miami, Florida, Carl Patrick and Claire Uchytil, Juneau, Alaska; and a great-granddaughter, Jaycie Ann Eaton born on 9-9-09.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife Georgia Ann on Sept. 12,1987, brother Fred, and two sisters Margret Duhacheck and Kathryn Weaver, nieces Gloria Uchytil Crooks, Marcia Duhacheck and nephew DennisWeaver.
He was a very proud, quiet, gentle, caring and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed!
A memorial fund has been established.
