TAMA- Cecilia Frances (Novotny) Sieck, age 93, of Tama, died Friday, May 21, 2010 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 6 - 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Cecilia was born on April 3, 1917 in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Kalinay) Novotny. She was united in marriage to Henry W. "Hank" Sieck on October 4, 1938 on her parents' farm in rural Toledo. Cecilia had formerly worked for Zigler Nursing Home in Tama and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Tama. Cecilia enjoyed her flower garden and dancing to Czech music.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Henry W. "Hank" Sieck on October 11, 1998; one daughter, Linda Jordan; one granddaughter, Lisa Moore; a sister Charlotte Beecher; and a sister in infancy, Blanche Novotny; and three brothers, Sylvester, Paul, and Leo Novotny.
Survivors include seven sons, Robert (Sandra) Sieck of Mobile, AL, Lester (Nancy) Sieck of Toledo, Le Roy (Pat) Sieck of Mobile, AL, Roger (Kathy) Sieck of Toledo, Larry (Shelley) Sieck of Princeton, MO, Ronald (Lisa Higginbotham) Sieck of Toledo, Loren (Jean) Sieck of Tama; three daughters, Rebecca (Glen) Cline of Tama, Regina Sieck of Tama, and Loretta (Tom) Ledvina of Elberon; twenty-seven grandchildren; twelve step grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; twenty-two step great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a one sister, Marian Nelson of Wilton Manors, FL.
A memorial fund has been established.
