Charles Carmen "Chuck" Kaloupek, 89, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Grandview Heights Rehab & Healthcare Center in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 5 PM until the time of service at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home. Interment will be Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Charles was born on March 31, 1926, in Elberon, Iowa, the son of Charles Carmen and Pearl (Dralle) Kaloupek.
He graduated from Toledo High School.
Charles joined the U.S Navy at age 17 and served in the Pacific for two years during World War II.
On September 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Faye Gulling at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Charles was an auto mechanic for Stein Motor Co. in Toledo and then Braga Motors in Marshalltown. He also drove school bus for many years and took the band on trips. Charles was a member of the American Legion and Toledo Fire Department. His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Mary of Toledo; two daughters, Barbara Lynn (Ronnie) Brown of Marshalltown and Linda Jean (Jim) Bailey of Marshalltown; one daughter-in-law, Dee Kaloupek of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren, Amy (Ben) Pingel of Fort Dodge, David (Teisha) Kaloupek of Fort Dodge and Joshua Lee Bailey of Marshalltown; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Mary Louise) Kaloupek of Cumming, GA; one sister, Mary Lou Kaloupek of Newton; one brother-in-law, Chuck Willer of Marshalltown; one sister-in-law, Marrina Kaloupek of Grinnell; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Rodney Lee Kaloupek; three brothers, Lee, Robert and Douglas Kaloupek; and one sister, Phyllis Willer.
A memorial fund has been established.
