Obituary

Chloe YoungBear, "Ne-di-ta", 87, of Tama passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 at her home under the care of Iowa River Hospice.  A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, September 12,  2018 at 2:00 PM at the Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Homer Bear Jr. as speaker.  A Traditional Wake will be held Tuesday evening at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

Chloe was born on April 12, 1931, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Ada (Kapayou) Oldbear.

She attended Sac & Fox Settlement School.

On July 28, 1958, Chloe married Leonard YoungBear in Tama, Iowa. Chloe enjoyed taking care of her family and attending Pow-wows. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling, dancing, making maple syrup in the spring time, gardening, beading, and watching movies. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and Bone Dice at the Sr. Center. Chloe's laughter, humor and smile will be missed by everyone.

Survivors include her sons, Ray (Stella) YoungBear of Tama, and Russell (JoAnn) YoungBear of Tama; daughters, Marcine (Larry Lasley Sr.) YoungBear of Tama, and Becky YoungBear of Tama; grandchildren, Dexter Whitebreast, Ivan Alvarado, Elgin YoungBear, Lorenzo Lasley, Larry Lasley Jr., Lyrik Lasley, Renelle YoungBear, Trent YoungBear, Miko YoungBear, Mark YoungBear, Micah YoungBear, Rosie YoungBear, Mina YoungBear, and Rocky Lasley; great-granddaughter, Evangeline Leona Wanatee; one brother, Charlie Oldbear; adopted children, Dale Blackcloud, Doreen YoungBear, and Alvin Moy; and adopted brother, Tony Waseskuk.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Leonard; son, Todd D. YoungBear; grandson, Tremayne YoungBear; brothers, David Oldbear Sr., Russell Oldbear, and Roy Kapayou Sr.
