TAMA-Clara Frahm Reeder, age 95, a resident of Grandview Acres in Toledo and formerly of Tama, died on Saturday, September 16, 2006, in Grandview Acres in Toledo following a short illness. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 11 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church in rural Tama with Pastor Herb Knudten officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2006 from 5-8 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Clara Frahm Reeder was born on December 26, 1910, in Columbia Township, rural Tama, the daughter of John and Minnie Wiese Backen.
She attended country school at Columbia #9 and two years at the Tama High School.
On December 24, 1929, she married Louis J. Frahm at the St. John Lutheran Parsonage in rural Tama. They farmed south of Tama. After Louis' death in 1952, she resided on the farm and married Francis Berdette Reeder of Toledo on September 5, 1953 at St. John's parsonage. They continued to live on the farm and then moved to Tama. He passed away on September 1, 1995.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in rural Tama and the church circle, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Columbia Community Club. As a hobby, she enjoyed embroidery, quilting, and reading.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Louis Frahm and Bert Reeder; one son, John Frahm; one daughter Louise in infancy; three sisters, Hilda Graff, Frieda Backen, and Ruth Manatt; two brothers, Edwin and Arthur Backen; and one son-in-law, Gerald Hobbs.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Hobbs of Toledo; one sister, Irma Vail of Albany, Oregon; three step-children, Barbara Smith, Judith Reeder and Debra Carra; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Frahm of rural Tama; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
