MONTOUR-Cleon Helmick Hoskey, 91, of Montour, passed away, Friday, September 24, 2010 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Cleon was born on January 23, 1919, in Montour, Iowa, the son of Albert and Mae (Weitzell) Hoskey.
He graduated from Montour High School.
On June 8, 1938, he was united in marriage to Betty McCoy. He farmed his whole life, at first assisting his father and later farming on his own. Cleon was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed his farm life very much and in his spare time liked to fish.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Betty in 1976; two sons, Daryl and Myron Hoskey; three brothers, Art, Melvin and Lawrence Hoskey; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his son, Lanny (Sonja) Hoskey of Tama; his grandchildren, Roxann (Eric) Ehresman, Ray Hoskey, Teresa (Todd) Hodge, Dave (Beth) Wiese and Doug Wiese; sixteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Ethel) Hoskey of Chelsea; his sister-in-law, Irene Hoskey of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.
