GRINNELL-Cloe Ann Roseland, age 68, of Grinnell, died on March 9, 2006, at her home due to a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 13, 2006, at 1:00 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at the Hayes Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2006 from 4-8 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Cloe Ann Roseland was born on November 9, 1937, in Johnson County, the daughter of Gerald and Maurine (Carson) Carson. She graduated from Tama High School in 1955. She attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon for one year and worked in Cedar Rapids for a year. In 1957, she married Larry Thomae and they later divorced. During that time she helped on the farm, sold Avon and worked at Thomas Company in Tama. On November 9, 1979, she was united in marriage to Rodney Roseland in Toledo. They made their home in rural Gilman and she worked in Marshalltown and for Thomas Company. They moved to Altoona where she worked at White Star Laundry and then Kane Manufacturing Company in Pleasant Hill. After working for Kane for almost twenty years, she retired in 2005. In 1992, they moved to Grinnell. She helped raise bison since 1999. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Iowa Bison Association, Minnesota Buffalo Association, and the National Buffalo Association. She enjoyed collecting bone china dogs, morel mushrooms, teddy bears and buffalo's of many kinds.
Cloe Ann was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Lois Roseland.
Survivors include her husband, Rodney Roseland of Grinnell; two sons, Martin (Jan) Thomae of Van Horne and Craig (Bianca) Thomae of Bay Village, OH; two daughters, Susan Thomae of Toddville and Judy (George) Cadden of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, Seth Silhanek, Rebecca Weber, Derek, Daniel and Rachel Thomae, Heather and Scott Northrup, and Carson Cadden; and father-in-law, Wendell Roseland.
A memorial fund has been established.
