GRINNELL-Clyde E. Davis, age 94, of Grinnell, died Monday morning, October 15, 2007 at the Friendship Manor Care Centre in Grinnell under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor John Epperson officiating. Interment will follow at Haven Cemetery, rural Tama. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 6-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Clyde E. Davis was born on November 6, 1912, in Haven, Iowa, the son of Tom and Sadie (Reed) Davis.
On February 14, 1935, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Thompson at the Methodist Parsonage in Chelsea, Iowa. They farmed in the Montour area. In his younger years he enjoyed coon and deer hunting as well as fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Dorothy on December 26, 2004; and one half-brother, Harold Davis.
Survivors include one daughter, Gayle (Donald) Powell of Mossyrock, Washington; one son, Jerry (Claudia) Davis of Grinnell; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two half-sisters, Phyllis Barnes of Galesburg, IL and Norma Davis of Tama.
A memorial fund has been established.
