Constance "Connie" Marie Lekin, 67, of Tama, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5-8 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Constance was born on March 15, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Myrtis (Ryan) Upah.

She graduated from South Tama High School in 1969.

On April 21, 1972, she was united in marriage to Daniel Lekin at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea. Connie was a weigh master and co-owner of Tama Livestock in Tama. Her life was centered around her work and spoiling her grandchildren. She was an excellent oldest sibling in her family, which suffered the tragedy of the untimely loss of their father. She took on extra responsibilities of love and rearing her young sisters to whom she preserved a motherly intuition. Connie was a mentor and maintained a close loving relationship with all her siblings which lasted until she died.

Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, Daniel of Tama; two sons, Jason (Mandy) Lekin of Toledo, and Justin (Danielle) Lekin of Grundy Center; four grandchildren, Taylor and Lane Lekin, and Elizabeth and Fletcher Lekin; seven siblings, Mick Upah of Tulsa, OK, Cindy Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, Doug Upah of South Amana, Debbie Perez of Denver, CO, Joan Kettlekamp of Cedar Rapids, Andrea Shaevitz of Swisher, and Laurie Prunty of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

A memorial fund has been established.
