TAMA- Dale J. Mason, age 83, of Tama, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Mike Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is handling the arrangements.
Dale was born on June 1, 1923 in Tama, the son of Art and Helen (Moran) Mason. He graduated from Tama High School. He married Eleanor Cogley on February 12, 1943, and they later divorced. Dale operated appliance and insurance businesses in Tama, as well as helping his father at the Mason-Hand Funeral Home. He later worked in the maintenance department at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, and retired from there after twenty years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Dale enjoyed boating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles, and a sister Edith.
Survivors include a son, Kim Mason of Johnston; a daughter Deb Wedemier of Cedar Rapids; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
