Obituary

TAMA-Dallas Wabaunasee, age 49, of the Meskwaki Settlement, died Monday, September 28, 2009, at his home. A wake will be held Tuesday evening, September 29, at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Settlement. Traditional Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 30th, at 2:00 PM at the McIntosh Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement, with Homer Bear Jr. as Speaker.
Dallas was born on November 6, 1959, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Judie Wayne and Flora (Jefferson) Wabaunasee.
He graduated from Ft. Sill Indian School in Oklahoma. Dallas liked to travel and spend time with family. In his younger years, he was a Golden Glove champion and enjoyed dancing at Pow-Wows.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Brian Wabaunasee; two sisters, Rhonda Pushetonequa and Julie Sanache.
Survivors include four daughters, Danelle (Luciano Garcia) Wabaunasee of Ottumwa, Dalyn Wabaunasee of Tama, Kathy Wabaunasee of Marshalltown and Summer Wabaunasee of Lawton, OK; six grandchildren, Victor, Ramon and Leticia Garcia, Marcelena, Delicia, and Dayvin Guevara; four brothers, Daniel Wabaunasee of Waianae, HI, Donald Wabaunasee of Phoenix, AZ, Deron Ward and Alvin Sanache both of Tama; four sisters, Shirley Sanache of Des Moines, Jackie Lasley, Kay Waseskuk, and Toni Lasley all of Tama; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
