Obituary

TAMA-Dan Youngbear Jr., age 84, of Tama, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 2 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Settlement in rural Tama with Homer Bear Jr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Friday evening at the Native American Drum and Dance Society Round House on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama.
Dan was born on June 19, 1926, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Dan and Rose (Lincoln) Youngbear Sr.
He attended Tama High School.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was previously married to Rachael Funmaker and they later divorced. He married Rogene Hull on February, 27, 1987, in Wichita, KS. He was a painter by trade. Dan was a member of the Robert W. Morgan American Legion Post #701 and was in good standing with Alcoholics Anonymous for twenty-five years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and three brothers in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Rogene Youngbear of Marshalltown; one son, Fred Youngbear of Tama; one daughter, Sally Youngbear of Tama; his grandchildren, Darryl Youngbear and Tianna Youngbear both of Ponca City, OK, Sanford Youngbear of Pawnee, OK, Lacey Youngbear of Witchita, KS, Chassidy LeClair of Longview, WA, Quanah LeClair of Lapush, WA, Danielle LeClair and Louise LeClair both of Tulsa, OK and Cody LeClair-Youngbear of LeGrand; twenty-three great grandchildren; and numerous relatives.
