Danielle Norene Seymour, Me-da-tti, age 25 passed away Tues. May 12, 2026, peacefully and quietly in her sleep in the comfort of her home. Danielle contracted Covid in late February, which then began impacting her muscles and motor skill functions. She was on medical leave from her position as a 3rd grade para-educator at the Meskwaki Settlement School, where she loved her students and her position. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 15, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Meskwaki Tribal Center Gym, rural Tama. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Danielle was born October 28, 2000 in Marshalltown, IA and the daughter of Cheryl Fleener-Seymour and Norman Seymour. Danielle had a warm smile; she displayed kindness, and an enthusiasm for life. She brought laughter wherever she went; her bright spirit and contagious sense of humor touched everyone around her. She had a gift for making people feel welcome; she was the life of every gathering. She had a playful personality and a heart that drew everyone in, and she cared deeply for her friends and family. She loved planning family get-togethers, spending time with her siblings, hanging out with her friends, eating family dinners, playing board games & UNO, and giving gag gifts at Christmas.
Danielle was an award winner all her life. At the age of 4, she recorded with her dad a song titled "Little Girl's Prayer" which charted #2 Internationally. At the age of 5, she performed on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium and received a standing ovation. At the age of 7, she received the Governor's Life Saving Award. Today, she still holds many school records in Track and Field at MSS. She was instrumental in starting the school Drama Club and taking command of the stage in school plays. She helped launch the MSS GEO Club, and her group was the first group of "Wandering Warriors" to travel abroad. She was very active in Individual and Large Group Speech. The Improv Group she performed with was selected to perform at All-State, her freshman year, which was a historical moment for the school. She also was involved in the first ever Academic Decathlon for MSS.
Danielle graduated from the Meskwaki Settlement School in 2019 and attended Kirkwood Community College, where she also worked part-time in the college bookstore as a marketing representative. She returned to Tama in 2024 where she accepted a para-educator position at the Meskwaki Settlement School.
Danielle is survived by her parents, Norm & Cheryl, brothers Noah, Nathaniel, and Liam; sisters Addie, Ninajean, Zaidyn and Quora; nieces Azariah and Piper and nephews Aladius, Rey and Erys all of Tama. Grandmother; Patsy Seymour, Uncles; Curtis, Dwayne, Charlie & Ira Seymour of Tama, Rick, Mike & Don (Denise) Fleener of Searsboro, Aunts; Michelle (Tom) Grimes of Toledo, and Lori (Ray) Baker of Grinnell. Grandparents Mike Stacey and Eloise Lasley of Tama, along with many other relatives, extended family and her best friends.
She is preceded in death by her Grandparents; Ruth and Max Fleener, Frank Seymour, two infant cousins, her dog LeRoy Shark, and her brother Ezra Seymour in 2024.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designations.
