TAMA- Darlene Anna Sedlacek, age 82, of Tama, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 until time of service at the funeral home.
Darlene was born on November 16, 1926 in rural Tama, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Behounek) Stadler. She was a graduate of Chelsea High School. Darlene was united in marriage to Fred C. Sedlacek on April 9, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea. The couple farmed near Clutier for thirteen years and then for seventeen years near Chelsea before moving to Tama. Darlene enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and knitting. She also played the piano in her younger years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Fred in 2000.
Survivors include one son, Glen (Linda) Sedlacek of Marshalltown; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Wauters, Pauline Sienknecht, Susie Wilson, and Helen Valentine.
