May 21, 1936 – November 12, 2021
David John Dvorak, 85, of Elberon, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 following a brief illness surrounded by his family at the Keystone Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael McAndrew and Deacon Joe Behounek as the officiants. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 4 - 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. The service will be live streamed on Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation services Facebook page.
David was born May 21,1936 in rural Clutier, the son of Fred and Barbara (Zmolek) Dvorak.
He graduated from Keystone High School with the Class of 1954.
On April 19,1958 he married the love of his life, Peg Sienknecht at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. David worked in local feed stores before beginning a 30 year career at Rockwell Goss in Cedar Rapids as a machinist in local 831. He belonged to the Circle of Saints Catholic Church in Chelsea and was on the telephone company board and FCSLA treasurer.
David's biggest joys were spending time and making memories with family. He also enjoyed working outside in the yard and garage. David will be remembered for his amazing vegetable gardens and flowers. He loved fishing and deer hunting highlighted by outings with his grandchildren. David liked going for rides in rural counties around Iowa and he enjoyed spending time with lifelong friend Wayne "Bill" Rayman solving world problems and discussing the day's events.
David is survived by his wife of 63 years Peg and their children: Doug (Kelly) Dvorak of Walford; Diane (Joe) Losch of Cedar Rapids; Dan (Diane) Dvorak of Iowa City; and Denise Dvorak of Garwin; his grandchildren that he adored greatly: Nate Dvorak, Tara Meade, Abbey Losch, Ashley (Sam) Weller, Tyler Meade, Megan (AJ) Smith, Tyler (Melissa) Dvorak and great grandchildren: Kenley, Kya and Kamden Smith, Cooper and Wyatt Dvorak and Aria Weller. He is also survived by his sisters Ann O'Connor and Gracie (Kent) Meyer and sisters-in-law Rosie Welton and Pauline Sienknecht; and many nieces and nephews.
He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, brothers Eugene and Frederick Dvorak and sister Barbara Dvorak; brothers–in-law Dick O'Connor, Lucky Welton, Lyle, Leslie, John, Jim, Ralph and Bill Sienknecht; sisters-in-law, Irene, Pauline and Thelma; half sisters-in-law, Violetta and Ada; and half brother-in-law, Lorenz.
A memorial fund will be established.
