TAMA-David Emmett Smith, age 62, of Tama, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Harlan Nuss officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Vining. A Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, August 2 from 5 to 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
David was born January 13, 1948, in Gregory, South Dakota, the son of Charles and Blanche (Bainey) Smith.
On August 2, 1981, he was united in marriage to Donna (Daringer) Olson in Pierre, South Dakota. David owned and operated Dave's Repair in rural Tama. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his coffee time with his buddies at the shop.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Melvin Smith; one niece; and one nephew.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Tama; three children, Michelle Smith of Keystone, April (Landrew) Van Dee of Tama and Charles (Melissa) Smith of Suffolk, VA; two stepchildren, Laurie (Steve) Sullivan of Lamont and Brian (Beth) Smith of Virgin Islands; fourteen grandchildren; five brothers, Loren (Karen) Smith of Minneapolis, MN, Gary (Star) Smith of Gregory, SD, Ralph Smith of Louisiana, Paul Roy (Virginia) Smith of Louisiana and Mark (Susie) Smith of Minneapolis, MN; three sisters, Carol (Roger) Booze of Valley, NE, Beth (Norman) Jensen of Spencer, NE and Debbie Schueck of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
