TOLEDO-Dawn D. Ballinger, 66, of Toledo passed away March 13, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 5 -7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Dawn was born on August 7, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Mable (Hill) Bennett.
She graduated High School in Colorado Springs, CO and went to Beauty School in Davenport.
On September 17, 1994, she was united in marriage to Bob Ballinger at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama. Dawn managed King Tower Restaurant for eight years where she had also worked as a waitress. She had previously worked as a beautician. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Swisher American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed cleaning and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Ballinger of Toledo; one son, Allen Lobdell of Montpelier; two step-sons, Brett Ballinger of Toledo and Wesley (Tiffany) Ballinger of Houston, TX; one step-daughter, Gina (Paul) Huber of Aberdeen, SD; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine (Robert) Teel of Cedar Rapids; her mother-in-law, Ruby Ballinger of Westboro, MO; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Angela) Ballinger and Marvin Ballinger all of Westboro, MO; two sisters-in-law, Kay (David) Gebhards of Rockport, MO and Bernice Fletcher of Clinton, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Ty Bennett; one sister, Tami Taylor; and one nephew, T-Bone Bennett.
A memorial fund has been established.
