TAMA-Dean Cruikshank, age 82, of Tama, died on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Ron Arends officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 5-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Dean Cruikshank was born on June 13, 1925, in Mora, Minnesota, the son of Glen and Eva (Dalbey) Cruikshank.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Dean retired from Fisher Controls after twenty years of employment. He also worked as a head school bus driver and drove semi part-time. Dean enjoyed mowing the lawn, attending the grand kids sporting events, telling stories and playing practical jokes.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Corrine; two brothers, Harold and Dale Cruikshank; and one nephew, Paul Cruikshank.
Survivors include his children, Debbie (Larry) Thomas of Tama, Deanna (Randy) Boldt of Adel, Shelley (Larry) Sieck of Bethany, MO, Dennis (Cindy) Cruikshank of Marshalltown, Dan (Vicki) Cruikshank of Marshalltown, Dale (Shelley) Cruikshank of Toledo, Micki (Jim) Jacobson of Arlington, TX, and Dave (Rhonda) DeFrance of Webster, IA; twenty-six grandchildren, Paige, Scott, Kevin, Danni Jo, Denise, Cristal, Gavin, Garrett, Shelaine, Shara, Katie, Derek, Tyler, Tiffany, T.J., Christy, Greg, Karl, Andy, Katie, Julie, Lynsey, Abbey, Alicia, Dan, and Steve; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Djuren of Mason City; one niece, Lori Rogers of Mesa, AZ; and a special friend, Dorothy Tool of Toledo.
