TAMA-Deanna Johnson, age 30, of Denver, CO and formerly of Tama, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Rose Medical Center in Denver, CO. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Monday, August 29, 2011 at 2 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Settlement in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Sunday evening at the Native American Drum Society Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama.
Deanna was born on February 1, 1981 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Eugene Billie Johnson and Imogene Haskin. She was an artist and enjoyed sewing and writing.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Jeremy Ramon Johnson; maternal grandmother, Eunice Edna Roberts; and paternal grandparents, Thomas and Emma Billie.
Survivors include her mother, Imogene Haskins of Denver, CO; children, Isabelle Marie Chavez, Dejia Cherie Chavez, Julian Arron Chavez, Nakia Sinae Chavez, and Kealan James; siblings, Demetrius Johnson, Daniel Dean Haskin, and David Dean Haskin.
