TOLEDO-Dennis M. Lacina, age 57, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Chaplain Susan Leathem of Grinnell Regional Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5 from 6 to 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Dennis was born on August 11, 1949 to Lowell D. and Wanda L. (Doby) Lacina in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended South Tama Schools. Dennis worked at Marshalltown Instruments for many years until the plant closed. He was then employed with Cessford Construction in LeGrand, Iowa for 20 years until his retirement. He married Peggy Rund on August 12, 1972 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and hunting with his friends. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. The brightest lights in his life were his children and grandchildren.
Preceding Dennis in passing were his parents.
Survivors include his wife Peggy; daughters, Trina (James) Howard of Polk City, Iowa and Starla (Cory) Behounek of Green Cove Springs, Florida; two grandchildren, Calvin Howard and Shayla Behounek; sisters, Norma Baker of Plano, Texas, Corita Kesl of Tama, and Lola Fadiga of Centerville, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews and a special furry companion.
A memorial fund has been established.
