Obituary

Dicky Keahna, 70, of Montour, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Select Medical in the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Isaac Roberts as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Friday evening at Glenn Roberts' Ceremonial Building, 3005 F Ave., Montour, IA, on the Meskwaki Settlement.


Dicky was born on October 8, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Dixon and Sarah (Bear) Keahna.
He grew up on the Meskwaki Settlement. In 1953, his family moved to Chicago, IL. He graduated from Waller High School in 1966. Dicky then served his country in the U.S. Navy until 1969.
Dicky married Pamela Wold on May 11, 1985 in Chicago. On October 28, 1987, his beautiful daughter Autumn Sunset Keahna joined their family. In 1987, Dicky received his AA degree in Medical Administrative Assistant. The Dicky Keahna family moved back to the settlement in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela of Montour; daughter, Autumn Sunset Keahna (Jason Kingbird) of Marshalltown; granddaughter, Elianna Mae Kingbird of Marshalltown; nephews, Sean Keahna of Montour, Shannon Keahna of Marshalltown, and Albert Keahna of Chicago, IL; niece, Frances Keahna of Boone; his adopted mothers, Chloe Young Bear and Agnes Shuckahosee both of Tama; his adopted sister, Rae Jean Lasley of Tama; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his sister, Sally Keahna; one brother, Samson Keahna; and his adopted brother, Gordon Lasley Sr.
