Dolores G. Shaw, 97, of Clutier, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A Private Graveside Service will be held at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier with Father Michael Mescher officiating.
Dolores was born on September 29, 1918, in Cordova, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles W. and Margaret A. (Miller) Fish.
Dolores grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and as a young woman worked at the Adjutant General's Office in Omaha. Later she worked at Me Too and Osco Drug-Union Pharmacy in Cedar Rapids.
On June 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marion F. Shaw in Grinnell, Iowa. Dolores resided in Cedar Rapids twenty five years until 1979 and then moved to Clutier and later Fairfax. She was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. Dolores enjoyed embroidery, reading and puzzles. She was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include her children, Sharlene (Dennis) Merta of Fairfax, Susann Kruse of Fairfax, Nancy Palmer of Fairfax, Patrick Shaw of Cedar Rapids and Patricia (Jerry) Detling of Newhall; fifteen grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marion in 1985; one son, Michael Shaw; one son-in-law, Lyle Kruse; two grandsons; and two brothers, Charles and Bernard Fish.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Dolores was an amazing Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma and will be loved and missed by all.
