TOLEDO-Donald Wayne Boles, age 80, of Toledo, died on January 20, 2007 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center due to a sudden illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24, 2007 from 5-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Donald Wayne Boles was born on September 1, 1926, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of John A. and Margaret (Christensen) Boles.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II with the Seabees and was in the reserves in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On June 7, 1974, he was united in marriage to Maxine Hawkins at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama. Donald recently worked for Amwood Homes in Toledo and prior to that in various retail sales. He was a volunteer fireman in Toledo for twenty-five years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where he was on various committees. He was a sixty-one year American Legion member where he was in the Forty and Eight Club. Donald was also a member of the VFW.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one grandson, Joseph Kucera; three brothers, Harold, Kermit and Milo Boles and one sister, Velma Collins.
Survivors include his wife Maxine of Toledo; his children, Ron Boles of Cedar Rapids, Randy (Marla) Boles of Phoenix, AZ, Milo (Kelle) Boles of Toledo, Denise (Dan) Kirchner of Toledo, Teresa (Tim) Kucera of Fulton, MO, and Randy Mason of Pella; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Nancy Collins of Columbus, OH.
A memorial fund has been established.
