Obituary

Donna Roberts, 70, of Denver, CO and formerly of Tama passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at her home. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Saturday evening, May 17, 2014 at the Native American Drum Society Round House on the Meskwaki Settlement.

Donna was born on November 24, 1943 in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth Kapayou and Eunice Roberts.

Donna graduated from high school in Ottumwa, art school in Santa Fe, NM, and welding school in Denver, CO. She worked as a welder and truck driver. Donna also worked for the Denver Art Museum. She enjoyed going out to eat, going sightseeing, making Native American Jewelry, and spending time with her granddaughter and daughter.

Survivors include her daughter Tristana Roberts of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Arianna Roberts of Denver, CO; adopted mother, Agnes Shuckahosee of Tama; two sisters, Nora Roberts of Denver, CO and Imogene Haskin of Denver, CO; uncle, Isaac (Elizabeth) Roberts of Tama; adopted siblings, Gaylord Walker, Raymond Slick, Darrel Wanatee, David Old Bear, Chloe Youngbear, Michael Keahna, and Roy Kapayou Jr. all of Tama; and other relatives.

Preceding her in death her parents; and siblings, Darlene Roberts, Ernest Roberts, Chester Roberts, Terry Roberts, Ronnie Roberts, Douglas Roberts, and Leo Morgan.
