TOLEDO - Dorothy Fleming Ohman, age 86, of Toledo, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the Grandview Acres Care Center in Toledo due to a lengthy illness. The family is gathering to remember her life on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19 from 5 to 7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Dorothy Fleming Hopper Ohman was born on June 30, 1920 in Richmond, Indiana to Marshall and Vera Schrader Hopper. She married Harold Ohman on April 10, 1943 in Chicage, Illinois. Over their married life, Dorothy held a variety of jobs including cashier at Gene's SuperValue. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, bridge and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister,Phylis McComas.
She is survived by one daughter, Deb (Robert) Raue, of Toledo, Iowa; two sons, Daniel (Bev) Ohman of Ames, Iowa and David (Barb) Ohman of Greenbush, WI; one sister, Arlene (Dale) Gerlach of Toledo, Iowa; and two brothers, Garland "Bud" (Evelyn) Hopper of Des Moines, and Paul Hopper of Yuma, AZ; 11 grandchildren, Lori (Kevin) Dvorak of Chelsea, Lisa (John) Beaty of Marshalltown, Sara (Jason) Cronk and Curtis Raue (Fiancé Ashley Dolash) of Toledo, Jeffrey Ohman of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Ohman of Ames, and Claire, Lukas, Jakob, Izack, and Erik Ohman of Greenbush, WI; 9 great-grandchildren, Michelle, Joseph, Anna and John Dvorak, Dylan and Addison Cronk, Ashley, Alexus, and Conner Beaty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
