TAMA-Dorothy M. Reid, age 86, of Tama, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center following brief illness. Public Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama with Rev. Bobby Shomo officiating. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama is handling the arrangements.
Dorothy was born on December 11, 1920 in Tama, the daughter of John R. and Grace M. (Beal) Reid. She attended Tama schools. Over the years Dorothy created many pieces of beautiful handiwork. She was very talented at crocheting, knitting, and quilting. Dorothy's family also looked to her as the self-taught authority on local and family history.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Grace Reid; and two brothers, John Reid and Tom Reid.
Survivors include one brother, Donald (Vickie) Reid of Tama; one sister, Jean Reid of Tama; a sister-in-law, Barbara Reid of Mission Kansas; one nephew, Ralph Reid; five nieces, Donna Eakins, Sarah Ross, Laura Denneller, Sharon Talbert, and Carol Dungan; one great-nephew, Mason Denneller; and three great-nieces, Rachel Reid, Jessica Ross, and Alyssa Denneller.
