TAMA- Duane Edward "Butch" Noe, age 70, of Tama, passed away, Friday December 31, 2010 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Sheridan Cemetery in rural Malcom. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Duane was born on September 21, 1940, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Edward and Velma (McFate) Noe.
He attended Tama Schools. Duane served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
On September 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to Betty Nieman at the Tama Methodist Church. Butch owned and operated Butch's Body Shop in Tama for forty years. Prior to that, he worked for Cessford Construction, the Ford Garage in Toledo and drove truck for Bituminous Material & Supply. He was a member of the National Street Rodders Association and collected A.C. garden tractors. Butch enjoyed camping, road trips, making things for his grandchildren and spending time with them.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and half sister, Betty Culver.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Tama; two sons, Terry (Charity) Noe of Newton and Dennis (Alison) Noe of Tama; four grandchildren, Madison, Lane, Parker and Andrew; and one sister, DeVee Noe Wandling of Montezuma.
A memorial fund has been established.
